Do you lack balance in your hectic life? Work, family, wellness, friends, and of course...sleep, how do you find time to do all the things while maintaining balance? It’s something we all struggle with at times.

But the most important thing to remember is that there is no one-size-fits-all standard. It takes work to find balance, and it takes even more patience finding a routine that fits you and your beautiful life.

When it comes to keeping up with your schedule and all the people and things that need your attention, there is nothing more important than your health! When you’re on an airplane, they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first for a reason. Because if you don’t take care of yourself, how are you going to help anyone else?

Some days you’ll rock it with kale salads, protein shakes, and baked vegetables, and other days you’ll simply need a scoop of ice cream. Life’s all about balance! Take a look at these tips to help you create the healthy life you deserve.

Prioritize

Whether you’re on the 9-5 grind or find yourself working 9-5 plus your side hustles, it’s probably hard for you to fit in a good workout. When you start hitting the gym, you might feel exhausted after an intense session, but I promise, after you get into the swing of things, those workouts will energize you—giving you the strength, confidence, and endorphins to power through your day.

It’s vital that you make time for a sweat session. So, how can you squeeze it into your schedule? Workout in the morning before your brain knows what you’re doing! I find that the longer you wait to hit the gym, the more excuses you’ll make.

Whether you want to drive to the gym, go for a jog in your neighborhood, do yoga in your living room, or make a workout circuit in the garage, make it part of your morning routine. There’s nothing better than heading home from work and remembering that your gym session is already complete.

Schedule

Want to know the easiest way to feel unmotivated at the gym? Go without a plan. When you go into a workout without a clear strategy, it makes your brain feel scattered, and that’s the last thing you want when you only have a limited amount of time.

Sit down and create a comprehensive schedule with everything from meetings to doctors appointments and your work hours. Once you have everything jotted down in front of you, start penciling in your workouts, and get detailed!

If your goal is to hit the gym three times a week, map out the days that make the most sense, and add what you’re going to focus on while you’re there. Maybe Wednesdays are always leg days? Friday might be a great time to do a full-body workout so you can recover over the weekend. Whatever works for you is fine, just put it in writing to hold yourself accountable.

Be flexible

Balance is all about flexibility. Too often, we have this cement structure in our minds of what we have to be doing. And as soon as life gets in the way, the entire thing comes crumbling down. This is why flexibility is key.

Some weeks you’re going to have a last-minute meeting pop up. Other times, you might have an injury that you need to tend to. Whatever the case may be, life happens, and knowing when and how to adjust is the difference between creating healthy habits and letting your goals fall to the side.

If you slip-up with your healthy eating habits or are just too exhausted to hit that workout class you wanted to try, that’s ok! Get back up and try again tomorrow. One day off will not change weeks, months, or years of hard work.

Meal prep

How often do you run to the drive-thru because it’s quick? It’s so easy to fall into the fast-food slump, only eating out of convenience. That’s why you have to make healthy eating even easier. How do you do that? Plan ahead!

Create your own drive-thru at home by packing your fridge full of healthy meals that are ready to go whenever you are. Simply pop them into the microwave or onto a skillet and dine on delicious food that feels good.

Ordering out is fun every once and a while, but when it comes to building a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, there’s no better skill to attain than the ability to prepare healthy, fresh dishes that satisfy your cravings.

Honor your sleep

Sure, you need to make time for workouts, meal prepping, and all of the other tasks in your agenda, but without sleep, you’re not going to maintain your lifestyle. We’re in a generation that idolizes the hustlers, movers & shakers who brag about getting four hours of sleep a night. This mindset couldn’t be more unhealthy.
